On Saturday 15th October we helped evaluate the HIV/AIDS project’s presentations, soon to be used in villages in the local area as part of the “playstreets” initiative. This proved to be a productive morning and hopefully helped the team to refine their presentation and informative games. Buea (our town) from Mount Cameroon.

On Sunday 16th October most of the volunteers ventured off to climb part of Mount Cameroon which overshadows the town in which we live. We set off at 8am to reach the local environmental office and started the climb to “hut 1” at 9:30am reaching the hut by 1:30pm. It was a wonderful experience but also very very tiring. It gave Anna and I enough of a taste of the mountain to know that we will not be aiming for the top once the rest of the mountain is open in November. Most of the climb was through quite dense forest (once rainforest). Coming down was another experience altogether which resulted in several slips and falls, but thankfully no broken bones! Ndip, Anna, Crystal (from the Netherlands) and Puis. |
