11/10/05 General Update

Sorry for the delay in updates again, this is due to us being very busy at UAC.

Anna teaching

Anna has been working in the school, showing different teaching techniques to the teachers. Most of the teaching is so far done by repetition.
She has taught several lessons of French to some of the older children and is receiving a good response from the teachers at UAC. Anna has also started to create some resources for the school such as sticker charts and flash cards. The resources in the school are virtually non existent and the approach of positive affirmation of the children is also lacking. Hopefully these resources will help the school to develop in both these areas.

Tom has been busy in the computer room. A design for the future internet cafe has been drawn up and the furniture is being produced. Matt and Tom have both been working on the financial side of the internet cafe, one main concern is the sustainability of the internet connection but this is being looked into and other options are becoming clear. Tom has continued with his teaching daily which is so far proving very useful to the current computer room staff.

The children are very violent to each other, at break and in lessons. They seem keen but a lot of lesson time is wasted and there is a lot of repetition/board work so they get restless. Parents know the importance of education so are very supportive of it and have been keen for their children to go to my after school classes for reading.
