On Saturday the 1st October the volunteers visited lake Barombi near Kumba. The trip to Kumba was just as long as my previous trip and just as bumpy.

We stopped in Kumba for lunch in a small restaurant which consisted of a small narrow room with benches and low tables down each side. Anna and I did not eat as we had not felt well after such a bumpy journey...

We traveled the short distance from Kumba to an area near the lake and proceeded on foot. It became clear precisely why we had done so. The steep moody road was too great a challenge for our little minibus. But the work proved an experience in itself, feeling at times like on the set of some jungle movie. The scenery was fantastic.

As we approached the lake the view was wonderful. A perfectly still, very sizeable lake. We spent several hours just by the lake enjoying the dramatic scenery, before having to leave for the drive home. Another 3 hour journey but well worth it!
